In episode 22 of Sweeez, Domi and Jonas devote themselves to a topic that has long been underestimated: Balanced strains – that is, cannabis with a noticeable share of THC and CBD.
In the past, a certain CBD content was completely normal in many landraces. However, with the coffee shop boom of the 90s and the race for ever higher THC levels, CBD was increasingly bred out. The goal was maximum psychoactivity – demand and market fueled this development.
Balanced strains reverse this trend somewhat. Domi describes THC as the "accelerator" and CBD as the "adjustment". In practice, this means: less overwhelm, fewer anxiety attacks, clearer head feeling – but still noticeable effect. Especially 1:1 or 2:1 ratios are described as pleasant, functional, and suitable for everyday use.
The two also talk about:
- Differences between pure CBD flowers and genuine Balanced genetics
- Legal THC limits (e.g., Switzerland, Italy, Germany)
- The entourage effect and the interplay of cannabinoids
- Research on the endocannabinoid system & CB1-/CB2 receptors
- Potential benefits for people with stress, sleep problems, or high THC sensitivity
- Strain of the week: The Elephant (Auto) from Super Sativa Seed Club – a 1:1 breeding with Mazar influence, distinctive exotic-spicy aroma, and pleasant, clear effect.
In cultivation, there are hardly any differences with modern 1:1 breeds. Old landraces can be more demanding, while modern Balanced hybrids are robust.
